Let’s hope the ropes stay tight and the poles keep some structure, the canvas can do its job, and hold out some water, the river can keep its banks and the clouds their thunder, the mountain can keep its feet while we’re under cover
Here in Tent City, we’ll survive God-awful storms, we’ll get inside our tents and get it on
Thank God we brought the thermal vest, we packed the stove, we brought the four-season bags and left the beach clothes all at home, we bought a tape-seamed tent that survives Antarctic winters
Thank God, from experience we know it’s barely ever Summer time round here
In Tent City, we’ll survive God-awful storms, we’ll get inside our tents and get it on
The storm raged for 40 days and nights
Good job we pitched up the slope – when the rain comes down it will not drown us
Thank God, we wore winter coats – when the ice age comes it will not freeze us
Torrential rain and hurricanes
All of the ropes went slack and the poles all lost their shape
Off went the canvas, oh, it left us to the mercy of the rain
And when the river burst its banks all of us got washed away

This battle I will never win
This love I cannot bear to lose
The vows I tried to adhere to but time and time I broke for you
When they found out I knew this day would come and would come too soon
So throw your first stone God will judge me for whom I did and did not love
Can somebody help me cos I just can’t tell – will we go to Hell for throwing ourselves down the well?
If the Pope found out it would not go down too well
This shaft has girth enough for both of us
Can somebody help me cos I just can’t tell – will we go to Hell for throwing ourselves down the well?
Oh, but this is no suicide it’s just a way for you and me, or at least our bodies, to embrace eternally

We planned, in the band, a victimless crime – the beautiful brainchild of criminal minds
So we drove a ten tonne truck through the door, put out the windows and pissed all over the floor
We packed dynamite in the chimney and lit a fire in the grate and writing a fake note made good our escape
There was so little doubt the insurance paid out the very next day
We all bought a tour van and took off on holiday
And what’s for sure is I’d have ceased to subsist had I know the thrill of the chase was like this
They did their best in their quest to detect us and detect us they did
On sound advice, we ran and we hid
The handwriting expert took one look at the very well-written note and said it was my style and my hand that wrote it – which it was
And what’s for sure is I’d have ceased to subsist had I know the thrill of the chase was like this
When the jury looked at the note they spotted all my I's had been crossed and my T's, they were dotted
I was done for
But I’m Steve McQueen, Buster Wilson, Robin Hood and Richard the Lionheart rolled into one
I busted out of prison
A little slice of heaven
Oh, what a team we three are, all aeroplanes and fast cars

A multitude of sounds combined to one sweet and sad refrain
All at once heart-breaking Summer afternoons recalled and midnight squalls, haunting me again and again
It’s the carnage I’ll aim to refrain from
Against my better judgement and against my express wish, I went down to the carnival, as if that could fill a void in me
But the sun shines brightly and calling to me is St. Pauls
Demanding enjoyment and carnival debauchery, St. Pauls
But the sun shines brightly and calling to me is St. Pauls
Tripping over bodies in the hall
All our beer and breath and sweat is dripping down the walls
Everything and everyone gets lost in here St. Pauls

Oh, Adele, I’ll walk you home this evening; it can’t be far, or else you’d have said
You know, us gentlemen, we’re few and far between now; I am the last of a dying breed
Who knows where and when the night will take us?
I’ve never seen this part of town before
See the stars aligning; I’ll steal a kiss by your front door...
I got home late because I was chasing a lady – it might be love but it’s more likely alcohol
Oh, Adele, the moonlight shows all your features and I’ve got to say the soft lighting suits your face
And yeah I know, you could say it also suits mine but I’m more annoyed you dragged me out so far across our moonlit city: I’m five miles from home and oh, I’m tired...
I got home late because I was chasing a lady – it might be love but it’s more likely alcohol

Oh, Rodriguez, our dreamboat has been shipwrecked on this island so far from home. Who needs maps with a nose for adventure like yours? That’s what we’ve got
The last thing I thought I ever wanted was to leave you behind but the island was changing my mind, and as it drew me inwards, closer to the centre where the trees grow close together, I swear I heard a whisper: “we want blood, we want blood, we want blood!”
And I thought that the last thing I ever wanted was to be far from you, but in fact it was to be a Loup Garou – but that’s what I’ve turned into. As the hair on my fingers grew I howled at the moon: “I love you Jennifer...Jennifer!”
But all the love he bore
could not outweigh his lust for gore
that took him down to the sea shore
where into Jennifer he tore
Though you may not choose to believe what I say is still true; When Jennifer awoke she too was a Loup Garou. Sometimes on a clear night (if you attune your ears to the sea) you can hear their wolfish love songs howled so sweetly
